Na štitu visine 6.83 cm i širine 5.08 cm nalaze na tri okomite trake,
(redom s lijeva na desno crvena, bijela i plava) stoji krilati lav čija je
prednja desna šapa naslonjena na otvorenu knjigu. U šapi drži bodež
okrenut prema gore. Cijela je figura žute boje, osim natpisa na knjizi PAX
(mir) koji je plave boje. Iznad znaka se nalaze crvena trakica sa natpisom
SETAF (Southern European Task Force). Ali se isto tako taj znak može
"zamijeniti" oznakom padobranskih snaga. Lav Sv. Marka simbolizira NATO
organizaciju. Crvena, bijela i plava predstavljaju boje Sjedinjenih
Američkih Država. Oznaka Južnoevropskih snaga NATO-a (Američka komponenta)
je odobrena 06.12.1955. godine. |

On a shield 2 inches (5.08 cm) in width and 2 11/16 inches (6.83 cm) in
length overall, triparted vertically red, white and blue, a winged lion
“passant guardant” above a bar, his right forepaw resting on a book and
holding a dagger vertically, all yellow on the book the blue letters “PAX”.
The insignia is enclosed by a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Army green border.
Attached above the insignia is a tab consisting of a red scroll 1 1/4
inches (3.18 cm) in width and 3 1/4 inches (5.08 cm) in length, with the
inscription “SETAF” in yellow letters.The lion of St. Mark symbolizes NATO
affiliation. The red, white and blue of the insignia represent the colors
of the United States of America. The shoulder sleeve insignia was
originally approved for the Southern European Task Force on 6 December
1955. |

On a Blue oval 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) in diameter with a 3/16 inch
(.48 cm) Red border fimbriated White, issuing from a Green mound in
base fimbriated Argent, the Washington Monument of the last
superimposed by a Red double handed sword bendwise, fimbriated White,
hilt and pommel Gold; all fimbriations 1/32 inch (.08 cm). The
functions of the organization are indicated by the double handed sword,
symbolic of protection, over the Washington Monument, representing the
area concerned. The blue represents the Navy and the Infantry; the
scarlet the Field Artillery, Coast Artillery and Engineers; and the
green and gold the Military Police. The shoulder sleeve insignia was
originally approved for the Military District of Washington on 26
September 1942. It was redesignated for the United States Army
Military District of Washington on 21 July 1971. |
