Kopnena vojska je bila dio Istočnonjemačke Narodne Armije. Njihova komanda, osnovana 01.12.1972. godine bila je smještena u Galtowu. Kopnena vojska je osnovana 01.03.1956. godine od dijelova Kasernierte Volkspolizei (vojno organizirane policije). Strukturalna organizacija kao i oprema bili su većinom sovjetskog tipa. Kopnena vojske je (kao i ostale snage) usko surađivala sa Grupom sovjetskih snaga u Njemačkoj.
The Landstreitkräfte was the ground component of the East Germany National People's Army. The Land Forces Command, located at Geltow was established on 1 December 1972 as a management body created for the land forces. The NPA itself was created on March 1, 1956 from the Kasernierte Volkspolizei (Barracked People's Police). The structure and equipment was mostly of Soviet design, and the NVA operated in close collaboration with the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany.

COLLAR TABS OZNAKE ZA REVERE

The East German armed forces, police and other agencies followed German tradition in wearing distinctive cloth and metal insignia for quick identification of unit and rank. These collar tabs (or collar patches), as they are generally known, shared many similarities and continued to have the same general appearance after being standardized between 1956-65. Such changes as did take place were more the result of how the collar tabs were manufactured than how they looked, with wool giving way to polyester as the preferred construction material.

Oznaka za vojnike i vojnike s činovima (razvodnike, desetare...) koja je označavala da služe duže od 18 mjeseci, koliko je trajao redovni vojni rok. To su bili vojnici sa ugovorom na određeno vrijeme. Oznaka se nosila na lijevom rukavu iznad zapešća.

CUFF TITLES OZNAKE ZA RUKAV

Tradicija nošenja traka sa nazivom pojedinih jedinica je jedna od mnogih tradicija koje je nacionalna armija "naslijedila" od Wermachta. No te trake nisu nosile sve jedinice, nego neke grane (kao granične trupe) ili posebne jedinice. dvije od tih traka vidite dolje.
The tradition of issuing cufftitles to certain units was one of the many traditions the Nationale Volksarmee continued from the Wehrmacht, below you can find information of cufftitles used by the NVA and the Grenztruppen.

CUFF TITLE WORN FROM 1980 TILL 1990

Počasnoj regimenti Komande Berlina, jednoj od dvije počasne jedinice Nacionalne armije, je određen znak sa nazivom "NVA-Wachregiment" 28.06.1962. godine. taj je znak nosila sve do 07.10.1980. godine, kada je dobila počasni naziv "Počasna regimenta Friedrich Engels" i dobija traku sa novim imenom. Koriste je sve do kraja DDR-a, 1989. godine. Regimenta je bila smještena u kasarni na Kupfergrabenu, u kasarni u kojoj je služio i Friedrich Engles, i to u 12-pješadijskoj četi, gardijske pješadijsko-artiljerijske regimente od 1841. do 1842. godine.
Wachregiment der Stadtkommandantur Berlin, one of the two guards regiments in the NVA, was issued the cufftitle "NVA-Wachregiment" 28 June 1962. It continued to use this cufftitle until 7 Oct 1980 when it received the honortitle Wachregiment Friedrich Engels and was given a cufftitle with the same name which was in use until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The regiment was stationed in the Kaserne am Kupfergraben, the same barracks as Friedrich Engels had done his service in 12 Fuss-Kompagnie, Garde FussArtillerie Regiment 1841-42.
