The Luftstreitkräfte der NVA (Air Forces of the NVA) was the air arm
of the Nacional People's Army. It was founded in 1956, after the
GDR's entry into the Warsaw pact alliance, on the basis of People's
Police air units formed in 1950. In 1957, the air force was combined
with the Luftverteidigung (Air Defense), which operated
ground-based anti-aircraft missile and tracking systems. The
service's full name was Luftstreitkräfte/Luftverteidigung, or
LSK/LV. The name Luftstreitkräfte applied originally to the air
corps of the German Empire between 1910 and the end of World War I
in 1918. (The West German air force adopted the name Luftwaffe as
used by the Third Reich air force from 1935 to the end of
World War II in 1945.) |

COLLAR
TABS OZNAKE SA
REVERA |
|
Istočnonjemačka vojska, policija i ostale državne službe tradicionalno
su nosili platnene ili metalne oznake za brzu identifikaciju roda,
službe ili jedinice. Oznake sa revera, cijelo vrijeme postojanja,
pogotovo od standardizacije provedene od 1956. do 1965. godine, malo
mijenjaju u izgledu. Promjene se uglavnom odnose na materijale od
kojih su izrađene, pa je tako na primjer poliester zamijenio
vunu. Pripadnici Ratnog zrakoplovstva i Zrakoplovstva Graničnih
jedinica su nosi oznake sa dekorativnim metalnim krilima i metalnim
hrastovim lišćem. |
The East German armed forces, police and other agencies followed
German tradition in wearing distinctive cloth and metal insignia for
quick identification of unit and rank. These collar tabs (or collar
patches), as they are generally known, shared many similarities and
continued to have the same general appearance after being standardized
between 1956-65. Such changes as did take place were more the result
of how the collar tabs were manufactured than how they looked, with
wool giving way to polyester as the preferred construction material.
Officers/Warrant Officers in the Air Force and Border Guard Aviation
wore collar tabs with decorative metal wings and oak leaves. They were
similar to those worn by EM/NCO ranks but with additional oak leaf
devices. |
