MUNICIPAL GUARDS GRADSKE POLICIJE  Guardas Municipais

      Općinske (ili gradske) straže (Guardas Municipais, jednina: Guarda Municipal), također nazvane Općinska civilna garda (Guardas Civis Municipais, jednina: Guarda Civil Municipal), sigurnosne su snage općina (gradova) u Brazilu. Nastali u vrijeme Brazilskog Carstva, gardisti su podređeni gradonačelnicima općina (prefeitos). Gradska straža odgovorna je za nadzor gradskih parkova, posjeda, instalacija i unutrašnjosti općinskih vijeća i gradskih vijećnica, prema brazilskom saveznom ustavu. Njihove patrole nazivaju se rondama ("krugovi"), a postoji 1200 općina s općinskim stražama s više od 120 000 operativaca.

      Municipal Guards (Guardas Municipais, singular: Guarda Municipal), also called the Municipal Civil Guards (Guardas Civis Municipais, singular: Guarda Civil Municipal), are the security forces of municipalities (cities) of Brazil. Created in the time of the Empire of Brazil, the guardsmen are subordinated to the municipality mayors (prefeitos). The city guards are responsible to police the municipal parks, properties, installations and the interior of municipal councils and city halls, according to the Brazilian Federal Constitution. Their patrols are called rondas ("rounds") and there are 1,200 municipalities with Municipal Guards with more than 120,000 operatives.

      Prva grupa komunalnih stražara formirana je 04. 08. 1988. godine na svečanosti u zgradi Presidente Castelo Branco, u Gradskom centru. Bilo je 110 (sto deset) komunalnih redara, koji su radili zajedno s drugim službama javne sigurnosti, osiguravajući sigurnost, sprječavajući nesreće, kao i usmjeravajući stanovništvo. Općinska straža Curitibe aktivna je kako bi pružila usluge trgovima, parkovima, šumama, vrtićima, školama, zdravstvenim centrima, biciklističkim stazama, prometnim terminalima i drugim ustanovama u općini. Trenutno, Općinska straža Curitibe ima oko 1500 profesionalaca u devet regionalnih uprava grada.

      The first group of Municipal Guards was formed on August 4, 1988, in a ceremony at the Presidente Castelo Branco Building, at the Civic Center. There were 110 (one hundred and ten) municipal guards, who worked together with the other public security agencies, to ensure safety, prevent accidents, as well as guide residents. The Municipal Guard of Curitiba is active in order to provide services to squares, parks, woods, nurseries, schools, health centers, bicycle lanes, transportation terminals and other establishments in the municipality. At present Municipal Guard of Curitiba (state of Paraná) have arround 1.500 professionals, in nine Regional Adminitrations of the city.
