| Odjel za sigurnost i zaštitu (The Department for Safety and Security) je odjel Ujedinjenih naroda zadužen za sigurnost i zaštitu UN-ova osoblja diljem svijeta. Odgovorni su direktno generalnom sekretaru Ujedinjenih Naroda. Između ostalog, Odjel odgovara na krizne situacije, odlučuje o stupnju sigurnosti te uspostavlja mehanizme za sigurnosne provjere. Odgovorni su za oko 145.000 pripadnika UN-a (stalno zaposlenih, privremenih uposlenika, savjetnika itd...). Odjel za sigurnost i zaštitu osim što su zaduženi za opću sigurnost, rješavaju i probleme "dan na dan". Čuvaju i sva sjedišta UN-a u svijetu. | ||

The Department for Safety and Security (DSS) is a department of the United Nations, dealing with the security and safety of its staff worldwide. It reports directly to the Secretary-General. Amongst other things, the Department responds to emergency situations and decides on security phases and establishes the mechanisms for the processing of security clearances. It is responsible for 145,000 staff and consultants. The Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) has overall responsibility for all safety and security matters for the United Nations worldwide. Day to day responsibility for managing and responding to safety and security concerns at Headquarters in New York rests with the Security and Safety Service (SSS). |
