U vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata, francuske snage su bile obučene ili u britanske ili američke uniforme, koje svojim krojem nisu bile pogodne za isticanje revernih oznaka uobičajenih u francuskoj vojsci. Kako bi omogućili identifikaciju jedinica i službie prišivali su oznake na lijevi rukav. Početkom 1945. godine modificira se izgled oznake i dobijaju naziv Losange model 45 (dijamant, romb) visine 75 mm i širine 55 mm. Prišivalo ih se 150 mm od gornjeg ruba lijevog rukava.

      During the Second World War, the French forces were dressed either in English or American style. The configuration of the outing uniforms did not lend themselves to the wearing of certain purely French insignia such as the collar (or collar) tabs. To keep an identification of the weapon the French then sew a collar tab on the left sleeve. The wearing of this badge was changed and made official on February 15, 1945 and took the name of the diamond called ‘model 45’ 75 mm high by 55 mm wide to be sewn 150 mm from the shoulder seam of the left sleeve.

      Oznake imaju jednu, dvije ili tri rubne crte “soutache”, a postoje i oznake bez obruba. Formacije osnovane u Francuskoj imaju dvije obrubne crte, a one osnovane u Africi (na primjer Legija stranaca) imaju tri obrubne crte. 27. 07. 1990. pravilnikom o uniformama se ukida nošenje rombova (losange) ali se 13. 06. 2005. ponovo vraćaju na uniforme.

      The badges have one, two or three soutaches (or nothing) depending on the weapon. Service or administration units in principle do not have soutaches. The formations created in metropolitan France have two soutaches and those created in Africa (African Army for example or Foreign Legion) have three. The instruction of July 27, 1990 relating to the uniforms and uniforms of soldiers of the arms and army services removed these arm badges and that of June 13, 2005 put them back in place!
