      These officers focus primarily on enforcing all motor vehicle laws.  In addition to traffic responsibilities State Troopers may be called to assist during major incidents or occurrences in Iowa - such as prison riots, labor disputes and natural disasters such as tornadoes, and flooding.  The Iowa State Patrol is composed of four areas with sixteen district offices throughout the state. In addition to traffic and motor vehicle enforcement the Iowa State Patrol has developed several specialized units to assist in completing our overall mission.  The Iowa State Patrol Headquarters is located in Des Moines.

      The Iowa City Police Department ICPD is the municipal police department for the city of Iowa City, Iowa. The department consists of 82 sworn and 30 non-sworn personnel. The Iowa City Police department's jurisdiction overlaps with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department and the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety Police Division.

DAVENPORT POLICE  POLICIJA DAVENPORTA

      Policijska uprava Davenport ima ovlaštenih 164 policajca i 50 civilnih zaposlenika.       The Davenport Police Department has an authorized strength of 164 Police Officers and 50 civilian employees.  The Department handles over 140,000 calls for service annually and has an advanced computer dispatch system, integrated in-car computers and an enhanced 911 service, supported by an outstanding, professional and dedicated group of men and women. The Davenport Police Department is also very proud to state that it is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

BETTENDORF POLICE  POLICIJA BETTENDORF-a

      The first Officers charged with upholding the law were Marshals (an appointed position), Constables (an elected position) and Sheriff's Deputies.  The first "Active" Police Department for the City of Bettendorf was inaugurated in 1948 with an acting Chief of Police and three fulltime officers. One car was used for patrolling with a motorcycle for traffic duty during the daytime. There were two telephone operators from 5 P.M. until 8 A.M. each night. The City Clerk's office handled calls during the week day. The only contact with the car was through the Davenport Police Department Radio. By 1958 the Department grew to an authorized strength of six officers with two cars, four telephone operators and their own radio transmitter.  By 1968 the Department had 16 fulltime officers, seven dispatchers and an identification technician.

DES MOINES POLICE  POLICIJA DES MOINESA-a

      The Des Moines Police Department employs a total of 483 people. 364 are sworn police officers and 119 are civilian employees. The Des Moines Police Department is organized into five bureaus; the Administrative Services Bureau, the Detective Bureau, the Homeland Security Bureau, the Inspectional Services Bureau and the Patrol Services Bureau. Each Bureau is under the command of a Major, all of whom report directly to the Chief of Police. Additionally, there are several support sections organized under the title of Police Administration which are under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police. The Public Information Officer, and the Police Department Legal Advisor are included.
