MINISTARSTVO ODBRANE

Izmjenama Ustavne povelje iz 2003. godine, SR Jugoslavija je
reorganizirana u Državnu zajednicu Srbije i Crne Gore. Ministarstvo
odbrane Srbije i Crne Gore bilo je savezni organ izvršne vlasti zadužen
za odbranu bivše državne zajednice Srbije i Crne Gore (prethodno Savezne
Republike Jugoslavije).
mornaricu. |

With the amendments to the Constitutional Charter of 2003, the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia was reorganized into the State Union of Serbia
and Montenegro. The Ministry of Defence of Serbia and Montenegro was a
federal executive body responsible for the defence of the former State
Union of Serbia and Montenegro (formerly the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia). The Ministry was responsible for commanding joint military
forces. The Ministry ceased to exist on 3 June 2006, after Montenegro
declared independence, which disbanded the Army of Serbia and
Montenegro. Serbia, as the legal successor, inherited the bulk of the
army, while Montenegro took over the military infrastructure on its
territory, including the entire Navy. |

The Army of Serbia and Montenegro (before that, the Army of Yugoslavia)
was organized in an army system where each army held its own army
district. Following the major reorganization of the JNA, the armies were
divided into corps, and they were divided into brigades. In addition to
the armies, the VJ also had centers for training infantry, drivers,
armored and mechanized units, and artillerymen, as well as the Guards
Brigade and the 46th Protection Brigade, as separate units and
institutions. The Land Army (abbreviated KoV VJ) was the largest branch
of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro (Army of Yugoslavia) in terms of
numbers. It had about 85,000 active members in its composition, and in
case of need, it could mobilize up to 2,000,000 soldiers. |
