Oznaku i moto su kreirali pripadnici ovih policijskih snaga. Do sredine
1960-tih pripadnici Policije Sjeverne teritorije su nosili australski
grb na svojim kapama. Sadašnja oznaka, uobičajeno nazivana „Skippy
badge“ je usvojena 1990. i u njenom centru se nalazi klokan, koji
simbolizira australsku divljinu. Klokan je okružen vijencem u koji je
uklopljen floralni element Teritorije, Stjuartova pustinjska ruža. Sve
stoji ispod krune Sv. Edvarda, krune koja je korištena za krunidbe i
koja simbolizira vezu sa Commonwealtha. Ispod, na traci je policijski
moto i naziv policijskih snaga. |
|
Oznaka za rukav je izabrana između skica i prijedloga koje su slali
policajci. Stariji pozornik Peter Hamon je predložio dizajn koji je
iskorišten za finalni izgled oznake. Riječi „služiti“ i „Štititi“ se
pripisuju starijem pozorniku Arthuru Egglestonu. |

Both the motto and the patch design came from members of the force.
Until the mid 1960s Northern Territory Police wore the Australian Coat
of Arms on their cap badges then it was replaced with the kangaroo
insignia. The current shoulder patch was adopted in 1990 and has at its
centre a kangaroo, symbolising the Australian Outback, surrounded by a
laurel wreath featuring the Territory’s floral emblem, Sturt Desert
Rose; and standing beneath St Edward's Crown, the crown used at
coronations, symbolising Commonwealth links. Below, a scroll displays
the police motto and the words ‘Northern Territory Police’ are above.
|
|
The shoulder patch design was selected from staff submissions, with
Senior Constable Peter Hamon accredited with the design that led to its
final form. His submission included the words ‘Serve’ and ‘Protect’,
which in turn are accredited to Senior Constable Arthur Eggleston.

Sjeverna teritorija, ponekad nazivana „zadnja granica“ ima stalne
policijske snage od 1870 godine, kada su tamo stigli inspektor Paul
Foelsche i šest policajaca. 1931 godine, dvije teritorije postaju država
Sjeverna teritorija i dobijaju Upravu u Darvinu. Od 1955. kada je bilo
zaposleno 80 policajaca, broj policijskih službenika prati broj
stanovništva. Danas broje preko 1200 policajaca, rezervnih policajaca te
policajaca u domorodačkim zajednicama. Prvih pet žena postaju pripadnice
policije 1961. godine. |

The Northern Territory, sometimes referred to as ‘the last frontier’ has
a (permanent) police history dating from 1870 when Inspector Paul
Foelsche and six other police officers arrived in the Territory. In
1931, the two Territories became the Northern Territory of Australia and
the authority of the Commissioner of Police was vested in the
Administrator of the Northern Territory, in Darwin. Since 1955 when 80
police officers were employed, the size of the Northern Territory Police
Force has grown significantly in line with the population. Today the
establishment is more than 1200 sworn Police, Auxiliaries and Aboriginal
Community Police Officers. In April 1961 five women were sworn into the
Northern Territory Police Force. |
