unit was taken over by his deputy Branislav Lainović - Dugi, who very
quickly came into conflict with Vuk Drašković and left the unit together
with the unit's command at the end of the same year. After fighting in
Croatia in 1991, the formation also participated in conflicts in eastern
Bosnia and Herzegovina in early 1992. Not long after that, the unit
disbanded, and its members returned to Serbia or joined other

Pod
terminom četnici (od riječi četa, četovanje) su se do kraјa 19. vijeka
podrazumijevali gerilski borci svrstani u male borbene јedinice - čete.
U srpskim pjesmama često se za hajduke i uskoke koristi termin četnik.
Оd kraјa 19. vijeka za pripadnike dobrovoljačkih srpskih formaciјa koјe
su nastale kraјem 19. vijeka i koјe su organizovale i pomagale vlasti u
Srbiјi u cilju slabljenja turske moći na Balaknu vezuјe se naziv četnik.
Paralelno s terminom četnik, do Prvog balkanskog rata figurira i izraz
komita kao termin za pripadnika revolucionarnog-četničkog komiteta.
Izraz „komita“ јe primljen od pripadnika Unutrašnje makedonske
revolucionarne organizacije i od članova srpske četničke organizaciјe
dok su se grčki revolucionari-gerilci nazivali andartima. |

The Chetnik movement or the Chetniks (Serbian: Четници,
Četnici) were a Serbian nationalists and royalist paramilitary
organizaion operating in the Balkans far before and during World Wars,
mostly known for their participation in the Yugoslav Front of World War
II. Special Forces of Kingdom Yugoslava's Army were named Chetniks, but
to avoid confrontations with Croatian politicians name was abndoned. The
movement formed in 1941 was initially named the "Chetnik Detachments of
the Yugoslav Army" (Četnički odredi jugoslovenske vojske) and was later
renamed into the "Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland" (Jugoslovenska vojska
u otadžbini, Југословенска војска у отаџбини; JVUO, ЈВУО), though the
original name remained the most common in use throughout the war, even
among the Chetniks themselves. |
The name "Chetnik" was used by some guerrilla squads active in the wars
in the Balkans before World War I, while some Serbian nationalist
paramilitary formations identified with the movement during the recent
Yugoslav wars. |

This insignia was made according to the Chetnik insignia from the 2nd
World War. It was produced in two versions, one with an eagle with
spread wings holding the inscription "Freedom or Death" in its claws. In
the second version, "Ravna Gora" is written in written letters. In the
photographs from the Second World War, it can be seen that these badges
were worn on caps, janitors and also on the chest. The insignia from
this picture has been modified and is intended to be worn on the chest. |

SOLDIERS "RAVNA
GORA" BADGE
VOJNIČKI RAVNOGORSKI ZNAK |
|
Znak
je dodjeljivan pripadnicima Jugoslovenske vojske u otadžbini koji su
preživjeli rat i izbjegli na Zapad i bili su u savezničkim logorima u
Italiji i Njemačkoj. Dodjeljivani su od 1945. do kraja 1946. godine.
Civili nisu imali pravo nošenja ovog znaka. Trokutasti znak se sastoji
od inicijala Kralja Petra II, nadvišenog krunom. Slova DM u pozadini su
inicijali Dragoljuba Draže Mihailovića. Preko centra znaka uspravno je
postavljen mač sa lubanjom odmah iznad krsnice i palminim i maslinovim
ukrštenim grančicama postavljenim preko drške mača. U samom dnu znaka
previše sitnim slovima ispisano je „Ravna Gora“. Postojala je i
latinična verzija ovog znaka. |

The
badge was awarded to members of the Yugoslav Army in the homeland who
survived the war and escaped to the West and was in allied camps in
Italy and Germany. They were awarded from 1945 to the end of 1946.
Civilians did not have the right to wear this badge. The triangular
insignia consists of the initials of King Peter II, surmounted by a
crown. The letters DM in the background are the initials of Dragoljub
Draža Mihailović. Across the center of the sign is a sword with a skull
just above the cross and crossed palm and olive branches placed over the
hilt of the sword. "Ravna Gora" is written in very small letters at the
very bottom of the badge. There was also a Latin version of this
insignia. |
