      Kraljevska omanska policija je glavna agencija za provođenje zakona i održavanje reda u Sultanatau Oman. Policijskim snagama, organizaciono podjeljenim na osam regija, upravlja Generalni inspektor policije i carine koji je direktno odgovoran omanskom Sultanu. Do prije 30-tak godina skoro da nisu postojale policijskse snage. To je bio zadatak lokalnih upravitelja (valija) koji su red održavali uz pomoć lokalnih vojnih snaga ("Askars"). Policija je postojala u samo dva grada Muskatu i Mutrahu. 1970. godine na vlast dolazi sultan Qaboos bin Said, koji uskoro ustrojava profesionalnu policiju, koju unrajaju među bolje u regiji. Godine 1980. sa radom počinje policijska akademija, čiji je današnji naziv Akademija policijskih nauka Sultana Qaboos-a (Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences).

      The Royal Oman Police (ROP), also known as Oman Police, is the main law and order agency for the Sultanate of Oman. It maintains a helicopter fleet and also carries on the duties of safeguarding the long Omani coastline. Headquartered in the capital Muscat, the Royal Oman Police is the national police force of the Sultanate of Oman. Made up of eight policing regions, the force is commanded by an Inspector General of Police and Customs who is under the direct command of the Sultan of Oman. The concept of a modern police force is relatively new to Oman. Hardly 30 years, ago, no internal security force existed in the country: Security was the responsibility If of the local walis who carried it out with the help of local "Askars".
