Bangladešanska policija, pod upravom Ministarstva unutarnjih poslova i
Vlade Bangladeša, igra najvažniju ulogu u održavanju javnog reda i mira
na cjelokupnoj teritoriji Bangladeša. Uz osnovne zadaće štićenja osoba i
imovine igraju i važnu ulogu u sudstvu. Osim redovne policije, veći
gradovi imaju i svoje policijske snage kojima rukovode komesari.
Policija glavno grada Dhaka Metropolitan Police je osnovana kao prva
1976, a za njom su organizirane i policije u pet drugih većih gradova. |
Još
od svoje prve misije u UN-u u Namibiji, 1989. godine, policija
Bangladeša učestvuje velikim brojem pripadnika u raznim misijama (Obala
Slonovače, Kosovo i Metohija, Sudan, Liberija, Istočni Timor, DR Kongo,
Angola, Haiti i da ne nabrajam dalje). Od 2005. formiraju i posebne
jedinice za učešće u misijama. Naravno, u tim jedinicama se izmjenjuju
policajci iz cijele zemlje. U 2008. godini je u osam misija bilo
raspoređeno 1646 pripadnika ove policije. |
