U
2010. Afganistanska narodna armija broji oko 134000 ljudi, s namjerom da
za godinu dana naraste do 260000. Ulagali se veliki napori u osiguravanju
tog cilja u osiguravanju objekata, planiranja i treninga novih regruta.
Cilj je zacrtao američki predsjednik Obama, uz suradnju Afganistanskog
ministarstva obrane. Afganistanske oružane snage nastale su 1880. uz
pomoć Britanaca. Prije toga vojska je bila kombinacija plemenskih
milicija i vojnih snaga pojedinih provincijskih vladara. Tokom Prvog i
Afganistanska
narodna armija se raspala u rekordnom roku! |

Afghanistan's national army was established in the 1880s with the help of
British. Prior to that the army was mostly a combination of tribesmen and
militia forces, as well as a special army force under the ruler of the
country. During WWI and WWII, the Afghan army was supported by Germany
but the Afghan nation remained neutral. From the 1960s to the early 1990s,
the army of Afghanistan was trained and equipped by the Soviet Union. By
1992, the national army fragmented into regional militias under local
warlords. This was followed by the Taliban government in the mid 1990s,
which had their own armed forces. After the removal of the Taliban in late
2001, the new Afghan National Army was created with support from the US
and other NATO nations. From 2021 Talibans are again in power, after NATO
under US command left the country.
