GENERALS GENERALI

Zapovjednik Grčke policije ima čin general-pukovnika i zadužen je za sveukupne policijske snage. Odgovoran je direktno ministru unutarnjih poslova. Izabire ga se na rok od dvije godine, sa mogućnošću produženja mandata za još jednu godinu. Vrh policije, pod upravom zapovjednika čine još i njegov zamjenik, zapovjednik štaba te generalni inspektor, koji takođe mogu imati čin general-pukovnika.

The Hellenic Police Chief holds the rank of Lieutenant General and is in charge of leading the Force. The Chief reports directly to the Minister of Interior. The Chief of Police is elected to serve for a two-year term, while this period may be extended for one year more. The Force`s hierarchy under the Chief of Police includes: Deputy Police Chief, Chief of Staff and General Inspector, with the latter also holding the rank of Lieutenant General.

Policijski inspektori mogu biti unaprijeđeni u čin potporučnika polazeći školu za policijske inspektore na Policijskoj akademiji, što je i uvijet da bi se dobio i čin kapetana. Oni koji diplomiraju na policijskoj oficirskoj školi odmah dobijaju čin potporučnika i postaju oficiri Grčke policije. Oni mogu stjecati unapređenja do čina general-pukovnika. Oficiri specijalnih snaga mogu napredovati do čina general-majora. Oficiri stječu unapređenja na osnovu svojih kvalifikacija i službenih ocjena, a unapređenje odobrava nadležna komisija.

Police inspectors can be promoted to the rank of lieutenant by attending the Police Inspector Re-training Department at the Police Academy, a prerequisite for promotion to the rank of police captain (1st class).Graduates of the Officers School hold the rank of police lieutenant (2nd class) and are officers of the Hellenic Police Force. They can be promoted up to the rank of lieutenant general. Special duty officers retain a separate ranking system, and can be promoted up to the rank of major general. Officers are promoted following approval by competent committees, and based on their qualifications and record.

Po završetku srednje policijske škole, kadeti stječu čin pozornika i raspoređuju se u odjele po unaprijed određenom sistemu. Following graduation from the Police Constable School, cadets assume the rank of constable and are appointed to a division or department of the Hellenic Police Force on a point-based system. They can be appointed to the rank of police sergeant following at least three years of service and with the successful completion of a promotions exam. If promoted, they join the category of non-commissioned officers. Likewise, following five years service, police sergeants can achieve promotion to the rank of police inspector through an assessment test. Graduates of this school serve as investigators; police sergeants and police inspectors normally serve as a duty officer.
