Ciparska je policija dio Ministarstva
pravde i javnog reda. 2003, Ciparska je policija imala 4041 policajca
koji su djelovali u četiri grane: obuka,
administrativni dio, operativa i službe podrške. Inače, Cipar bilježi mali broj kriminalnih slučajeva, u prosjeku 1024 na
100.000 stanovnika, dok Evropska unija bilježi 5000 na 100.000 stanovnika. |

Rad policije podijeljen je na četiri glavne grane, od kojih svakom
rukovodi zamjenik šefa policije. To su administracija, operativni rad,
obuka i službe podrške. Odjeli u policijskim središtima su
administrativno-kadrovski, prometni, odjel kriminalističkih
istraživanja, tehničke potpore, razvojni, inspekcijski i knjigovodstveni
te kriminalistička služba. Policijski odjeli nalaze se u Nikoziji,
Limasolu, Larnaci, Amokostosu, Paposu, Morfou i Kerniji. Ovaj odjel u
Kerniji „ne radi“ jer je njegova zona okupirana od strane turske vojske.
Vatrogastvo je posebni odjel unutar policije. Policijske jedinice su
Centralni obavještajni servis, Ciparska policijska akademija, Odjel za
borbu protiv droge, Lučka i pomorska policija, Odjel za strance i
imigraciju te Jedinica za zaštitu predsjednika. |

The
Cyprus Police are a part of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and
are the national police of the Republic of Cyprus.
In
2003,
there were 4041 officers in the force.
Cyprus has a low crime rate in relation to many other European nations,
with a ratio of 1024 serious crimes per 100,000 people, compared to 5,000
to 100,000 in Europe. The functions of the National Police in
Cyprus are divided into four principal areas: education, administration,
operations and support services. Its main responsibilities are to:
maintain public law and order; preserve the peace; prevent and detect
crimes; and apprehend offenders. |

Police work is divided into four principal areas, each administered by an
Assistant Chief of Police. These four are: administration, operations,
training and support services. Departments at Police Headquarters are:
Administration and Personnel, Traffic, Criminal Investigation Department,
Research and Technical Support, Research and Development Department,
Inspection and Audit Service and Criminalistic Services. There are Police
Divisions in: Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Ammochostos, Paphos, Morphou
and Kerynia (does not operate due to its occupation by Turkish troops).
Fire Service – it operates as an independent Division. Police Units are:
Central Intelligence Service, Cyprus Police Academy, Drug Law Enforcement
Unit, Emergency Response Unit, Port and Marine Police, Aliens and
Immigration Unit and Presidential Guard Unit. |
