Francuska
Legija stranaca (Légion
étrangère) je elitna jedinica Francuske vojske osnovana 1831.
godine.
Revolucije 1830. bilo zabranjeno služiti u redovnoj vojsci.
Prvenstveno je korištena u zaštiti i proširivanju francuskih
kolonijalnih posjeda tokom 19. vijeka. Na francuskoj je teritoriji
korištena tokom Francusko-Pruskog rata i u obadva svjetska rata. I ako
je neki smatraju anakronizmom, Legija predstavlja važan dio Francuske
vojske. Legija je preživjela tri republike, carstvo, dva svjetska
rata, uspon i pad masivnih regularnih vojski, nestanak francuskog

The French Foreign Legion (French:
Légion étrangère) is a unique elite
unit within the French Army established in 1831. It was created as a
unit for foreign volunteers, because foreigners were forbidden to
enlist in the French Army after the Revolution in 1830. The Legion was
primarily used to protect and expand the French colonial empire during
the 19th century, but it also fought in all French wars including the
Franco-Prussian War and both World wars. Although considered an
anachronism by some, the Foreign Legion has remained an important part
of the French Army. It has survived three republics, one empir, two
World Wars, the rise and fall of mass conscript armies, the
dismantling of the French colonial empire and, finally, the French
loss of the legion's birthplace, Algeria. The French Foreign Legion is
known as an elite military unit whose training focuses not only on
traditional military skills but also on its strong esprit de corps. As
its men come from different countries with different cultures, this is
a widely accepted solution to strengthen them enough to work as a team.
Consequently, training is often described as not only physically
challenging, but also extremely psychologically stressful. |

Osnovani su 1984. godine reorganizacijom prijašnje GLE Grupe Legije.
Komanda LS-a direktno nadzire svu logistiku, ljudske resurse, obuku te
sve ostale administrativne poslove Legije.
dvije regimente „izvan“ redovnog lanca komandiranja u Francuskoj
vojsci).
Francuske vojske. |
|
The Foreign Legion Command (COMLE), or Commandement de la Légion
Étrangère, is the headquarters of the French Foreign Legion. The
headquarters detachment was established in 1984 following the
reorganization of the previous Foreign Legion Group (GLE). Foreign
Legion Command is headed by the Foreign Legion's Commandant. Foreign
Legion Command directly oversees all logistical, human resource issues,
training, and all other Foreign administrative issues. Foreign Legion
Command handles these responsibilities through its directly
subordinate units and through the 1st Foreign regiment as well as the
4th Foreign Regiment. COMLE has direct command over the 1st and 4th
Foreign Regiments (these are the only two such regiments which are
outside regular French army command). Foreign Legion Command is led by
the Commandant of the Foreign Legion, either by a Major General or a
Brigadier General, who answers directly to the Chief of Staff of the
French Army.
