      Nacionalna policija Republike Kine (Taiwan) se nalazi pod upravom Ministarstva unutranjih poslova, koje nadzire policijske snage na nacionalnoj razini. Sjedište Nacionalne policije nalazi se u glavnom gradu Taipei-u. Većina policijskih poslova je prebačena na lokalne policijske odjele na nivou gradova i pokrajina. Ove policijske organizacije su iako pod upravom lokalnih vlasti odgovorne Nacionalnoj policiji. Centralna vlada postavlja šefove policijskih odjela (i one ne gradskoj i regionalnoj razini) i time u svojim rukama drži lanac zapovijedanja. Nacionalna policija ima direktne ovlasti i nad nekim specijaliziranim jedinicama, te državnoj prometnoj policiji (highway patrol):

      The National Police Agency is an agency under the Republic of China's (Taiwan)  Ministry of Interior, which oversees all ROC police forces on a national level. The National Police Agency is headquartered in Taipei City. Most actual law enforcement and day-to-day policing duties are delegated to local police departments on a city and county level which answer to the NPA but are considered agencies of their local government. The NPA has direct control over several specialized units which may be deployed to assist local forces, as well as the national highway patrol. The central government appoints the head positions of city and county Police Departments in the ROC and thus forms a solid chain of command for all police personnel.

TRAFFIC POLICE   PROMETNA POLICIJA

      Primarne dužnosti Prometne policije su da održava red na prometnicama, spriječava prometne nezgode i omogućuje lakše odvijanje prometa. Nacionalna policija je organizirala Prometni odjel, čiji su zadaci planiranje i nadgledanje provođenja zakona na cestama te održavanje prometne sigirnosti. Odjel nacionalne prometne policije je  zadužen za državne auto-ceste te neke važnije međuregionalne brze ceste. Postoje i Odjeli prometne policije na gradskim i regionalnim nivoima (u sastavu lokalnih policija). Oni su zaduženi za istrage prometnih nesreća, kažnjavanje počinitelja prometnih prekršaja, održavanja reda na prometnicama i prevenciji u prometu. Svaka ta jedinica je zadužena i za planiranje i provođenje lokalnog prometa.

      The primary duties of the Traffic Police are to keep traffic order, to ensure traffic safety, to prevent traffic accidents, and to smooth traffic flow. National Police Agency of MOI has set up Traffic Division to take charge of planning and supervision of traffic enforcement and national traffic safety maintenance, and set up National Highway Police Office to uphold traffic safety and order on National Freeway and some important inter-county Expressways. There are Traffic Police Corps under Taipei/Kaohsiung City Police Department and the Traffic Police Brigade in each City/County of Taiwan Province and Kinmen/ Lienchiang County of Fuchien Province. Those Traffic Police take charge of handling traffic accidents, ticketing drivers against traffic regulations, keeping traffic order and promoting traffic safety. The traffic police unit of each police precinct is responsible for planning and executing the maintenance of local traffic.

SWAT   SPECIJALNA POLICIJA

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION BUREAU   KRIMINALISTIČKA POLICIJA

      Ured za kriminalistička istraživanja je odgovoran za istraživanje težih krinimalnih djela, forenziku i djela vezana uz ciber-krimial. Ured ima u svojem sastavu slijedeće sekcije: Odjel za prevenciju i otkrivanje kriminalnih radnji, Odjel istražnih radnji, Odjel za borbu protiv prevara, Pravni i regulacijski odjel, Odjel kriminalističke arhive, Odjel za borbu protiv međunarodnog kriminala, INTERPOL radio centar, Ured za razvoj i istraživanje, Odjel za odnose s javnošću, Logistiku, Sekretarijat, Ured za unutrašnje poslove, Ured za javnu sigurnost, Kadrovsku službu i Računovodstvo. Postoji i devet terenskih odjela: 1. brigada je zadužena za ubojstava i ilegalno oružje; 2. brigada za pljačke i zločine povezane sa sexom; 3. brigada za borbu protiv organiziranog kriminala i droge; 4. brigada za provale, otmice i ucjene; 5, brigada za bombaške napade i eksplozive; 6. i 8. brigada su jedinice za brze reakcije u centralnom i južnom Taiwanu; 7. brigada ima zadaću borbe protiv financijskih zločina i prijestupa te 9. brigada za borbu protiv ciber-kriminala.

      There are also nine active field police squads: 1st brigade: Homicide or unregistered weapons, 2nd brigade: Robbery or sex-related crimes, 3rd brigade: Controlled substances or organized crime, 4th brigade: Burglary, kidnapping or blackmail, 5th brigade: Bombs or explosives, 6th and 8th brigades: Rapid reaction units in central and southern Taiwan, 7th brigade: Financial crimes and 9th brigade: Cybercrimes.

JUDICIAL POLICE   PRAVOSUDNA POLICIJA

      Pravosudna policija u svojem znaku ima vagu, kao simbol pravde, a u svojim zadacima nije zadužena samo za održavanje sigurnosti u sudovima, već ima i veće ovlasti, kao što je pomoć službenim tužiteljima, privođenje osumnjičenih i svjedoka te još nekih zadataka određenih od strane sudaca ili javnih tužitelja.

      The judicial police are a kind of mix between what in California would be a bailiff and a District Attorney investigator. That is to say, these officers assist prosecutors and the court in various tasks including courthouse security, subpoenas, things like that.

SPECIALIZED POLICE   POSEBNE POLICIJE JEDINICE

      Specijalizirane jedinice policije su osnovane sa zadaćom zaštite institucija pod upravom vlade, kao što su željeznica, luke, aerodromi, gradski metro ili Banka Taiwana. Raspoređeni su u Željezničku policiju, Nacionalnu prometnu policiju (na auto-cestama)Uredima lučke policije, Policija gradskog metroa i Drugom štabu specijalne policije. Policija na aerodromu je osim za održavanje reda zadužena i za provjeru putnika i njihove prtljage te važnih tereta koji prolaze aerodromom.  

      U skladu sa svojim ovlastima, određene uprave imaju dozvolu za zapovijedanje i nadzor specijaliziranih policija u njihovom "resoru", kao što su Policijski korpus nacionalnih parkova, Policijska brigada za zaštitu šuma i rezervata, Policijska brigada za zaštitu okoliša, Telekomunikacijska policijska brigada te Policijski korpus za zaštitu intelektualnog vlasništva, koji istražuju prekršaje vezane uz prava na intelektualno vlasništvo.

       Specialized Police’s main duties are to protect state-run enterprises and public facilities like railways, highways, airports, harbors, MRT and Bank of Taiwan. Therefore, they are deployed in the Railway Police Office, National Highway Police Office, Harbor Police Offices, MRT Police Corps, and Special Police Second Headquarters. The Aviation Police Bureau and Special Police third Headquarters are respectively responsible for the security check of passengers and their luggage, and imported cargos at the airports.

      According to their own mandates, the competent authorities are allowed to command and supervise the concerned police forces like National Parks Police Corps, Forest and Reservation Police Brigade, Environmental Protection Police Brigade, Telecommunication Police Brigade and the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Police Corps, a subsidiary unit to the Special Police Second Headquarters, which investigates the offences of infringing on intellectual property rights.

COAST GUARD   OBALNA STRAŽA

      The Coast Guard is charged with maintaining law and order, protecting the resources of the territorial waters of the Republic of China, as well as providing a first line of defense along coastal areas against smugglers and illegal immigrants. The CGA is considered a civilian law enforcement agency but during emergencies it may be incorporated as part of the ROC Armed Forces. The CGA was established on 1 February 2000, combining the Coast Guard Command (formerly under the Ministry of Defense), the Marine Police Bureau (formerly under the Ministry of Interior), and several cutters from the Directorate General of Customs, Ministry of Finance. The CGA formally unifies coastal and maritime law enforcement agencies. It has seen a great deal of action for a young agency, participating in numerous search and rescue and anti-smuggling operations.

POLICE RANKS   POLICIJSKI ČINOVI

      Prije 1999. godine najniži je čin policajca "na ulici" bio policijski službenik dva, označavan sa dvije zvijezdice na jendoj traci, često nazivani "jedan dime i dva centa" (one dime and two cents). Izmjenama "Tabele policijskih pozicija i odgovarajućih činova" od strane Ministarstva, dolazi do promjena te uobičajeno, policajci na ulici dobijaju čin Starijeg policijskog službenika, koji zovu "jedan dime i tri centa". 2007. godine uvodi se i novi čin Policijski general, koji je iznad čina Policijski nadzornik 1. Osoba sa ovim novim činom je za nadzor javne sigurnosti cijele države.

      Before 1999, the lowest-grade street policemen held the rank of Police Officer II, denoted by an insignia of two stars on one horizontal bar, sometimes referred to colloquially as "one dime and two cents". On March 3, 1999, an adjustment of "the table of police positions and corresponding ranks" from the Ministry of Interior resulted in regular policemen or women on street holding the rank of Senior Police Officer, denoted by "three stars on one horizontal bar", nicknamed "one dime and three cents." To emphasize the independence of the ranks and the professions, the rank of ROC police may not perfectly match their positions in a station. In 2007, a highest rank above Police Supervisor Rank 1 is created for the highest position, Police General, who is in charge of and oversees the public safety of the entire nation.
