Keniji postoji nekoliko policijskih organizacija, a glavna od njih je
Kenijska policijska služba (the Kenya Police Service). Kenijska
policijska služba, Administrativna policija i ostale policije su pod
nadležnošću Ministarstva nacionalne sigurnosti i provincijskie
administracije u Uredu Predsjednika. Po članu 5. Zakona o policiji, sve
policijske snage su pod komandom Komesara policije, koji odgovara
Predsjedniku države. Policijske snage broje oko 40.000 pripadnika, od
čega na Kenijsku policijsku službu otpada oko 18.000, dok Specijalna
policija (General Service Unit (GSU) ima oko 5.000 pripadnika.

There are a number of law enforcement organisations in Kenya. With the
main organisation being the Kenya Police Service. Kenya employs up to
40,000 police and paramilitary personnel. The national Kenya Police
Force, Administration police and other security forces, fall under the
Ministry for National Security and Provincial Administration in the
Office of the President. In terms of section 5 of the Police Act, the
police force is under the direction and command of the Commissioner of
Police through the issuing of Force Standing Orders (the Commissioner
answers to the President) and its functions, organisation and discipline
are contained in the Police Act. The Kenya Police, which report to the
Commissioner of Police in the Office of the President, fields about
18,000 officers. The General Service Unit (GSU) has around 5,000
paramilitary personnel. The regular police are backed up in rural areas
by the Kenya Police Reserve (KPR) which is sometimes called the Kenya
Home Guard. The Administration Police (AP), formerly the Tribal Police,
report to local District Commissioners, who in turn report to the Office
of the President. |
