GUARD BRIGADE GARDIJSKA BRIGADA Гардијска бригада

Nakon raspada SFRJ, Garda je nastavila tradiciju u okviru Vojske Jugoslavije (formirane 1992. godine), čuvajući svoj elitni status, vojno-policijske i ceremonijalne funkcije sve do transformacije države. Gardijska motorizirana brigada Vojske Jugoslavije (VJ) bila je elitna jedinica zadužena za obezbeđenje državnog i vojnog vrha, kao i vitalnih objekata. Nakon transformacije vojske, postala je Garda Vojske Srbije i Crne Gore (SCG). Nakon razdvajanja država 2006. godine, nastavlja rad kao Garda Vojske Srbije. Garda je bila dio Korpusa specijalnih jedinica.

After the dissolution of the SFRY, the Guard continued the tradition within the Yugoslav Army (formed in 1992), preserving its elite status, military-police and ceremonial functions until the transformation of the state. The Guards Motorized Brigade of the Army of Yugoslavia (VJ) was an elite unit in charge of securing the state and military leadership, as well as vital facilities. After the transformation of the army, it became the Guard of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro (SCG). After the separation of the states in 2006, it continues to work as the Guard of the Serbian Army. The Guard was part of the Special Forces Corps.

Znak pripadnika Vojne policije Vojske Jugoslavije sastoji se od dvoglavog bijelog orla u poletu uzdignutih krila; zlatnih kljunova, jezika, nogu i kandži; dva zlatna ukrštena mača; vijenca čija je lijeva strana od lovorovog, a desna strana od hrastovog lišća zlatne boje; zastave Savezne Republike Jugoslavije i zastava Republike Srbije i Republike Crne Gore, na okruglom štitu crne boje. U gornjoj polovini štita je ćirilicom ispisano VOJNA POLICIJA. Znak VP nose profesionalni pripadnici Vojne policije na desnom rukavu uniforme.

The insignia of the Military police of the Armed forces of Yugoslavia consit of twoheaded white eagle with raised wings; golden beaks, tongues, legs and claws; two crossed golden swords; a weath whose left side is madden from laurel leaves and wright side of oak leaves in golden colour; the flag of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the flags of Republic of Serbia and Republic of Montenegro on the black-coloured rounded shield. On shield top stands Cirillic inscription Military police. The professional personnel of the MP Corps wear these insignia on the right sleeve of the uniform.

78. motorizovana brigada bila je jedna od najznačajnijih jedinica Vojske Jugoslavije (VJ), a kasnije Vojske Srbije i Crne Gore (VSCG). Formirana je 1992. godine sa komandnim mjestima u Vranju i Bujanovcu, od dijelova jedinica koje su se povukle sa teritorije tadašnje Makedonije. Brigada je postojala do 30. juna 2007. godine, kada je formirana 4. brigade Kopnene vojske, čije jezgro je činila 78. motorizovana brigada.
Tokom bombardiranja 1999, brigada se nalazila na težištu odbrane Niškog korpusa. Sa zadatkom da zatvori pravce koji vode iz Makedonije i sa Kosova i Metohije, jedinica je pretrpela žestoke udare. Najteži dan u istoriji brigade bio je 15. april 1999. godine, kada je od djelovanja NATO avijacije u selu Reljan kod Preševa poginulo sedam pripadnika njenog haubičkog diviziona. Tokom cijelog rata ukupno je poginulo 11 pripadnika jedinice.
Nakon rata, u 2000–2001, brigada je u Kopnenoj zoni bezbjednosti bila direktno angažirana na suzbijanju terorističkih djelovanja takozvane OVPMB (Oslobodilačka vojska Preševa, Medveđe i Bujanovca). Kao deo Združenih snaga bezbednosti, uspješno je učestvovala u povratku vojske i policije u Kopnenu zonu bezbjednosti duž administrativne crte.

The 78th Motorized Brigade was one of the most important units of the Army of Yugoslavia (VJ), and later of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro (VSCG). It was formed in 1992 with command posts in Vranje and Bujanovac, from parts of units that withdrew from the territory of Macedonia at the time. The brigade existed until June 30, 2007, when the 4th Army Brigade was formed, the core of which was the 78th Motorized Brigade.
During the bombing in 1999, the brigade was at the center of gravity of the defense of the Niš Corps. With the task of closing the roads leading from Macedonia and from Kosovo and Metohija, the unit suffered fierce blows. The most difficult day in the history of the brigade was April 15, 1999, when seven members of its howitzer division were killed by NATO aviation in the village of Reljan near Preševo. A total of 11 members of the unit died during the entire war.
After the war, in 2000–2001, the brigade was directly engaged in the suppression of terrorist activities of the so-called OVPMB (Liberation Army of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac) in the Land Security Zone. As part of the Joint Security Forces, it successfully participated in the return of the army and police to the Land Security Zone along the administrative line.
